A chat can be arranged by sending an email with your first and second choice of dates and times, including time zone, the book or books you'd like to discuss, and your phone number. Be sure to consult "Teacher and Parent Resources" on the individual book pages of his website for discussion questions and be prepared with questions of your own to ask. It will be a stimulating and fun time for all.
What some teachers have said about the benefits of an author chat:
From an 8th grade English teacher in Oxford, Pennsylvania
On behalf of our class, thank you so much for the insightful and interesting video chat. My students and I really enjoyed the chance to talk to you and to hear your inspirations and information about UNDER THE BASEBALL MOON. The class liked the book quite a bit, so it was a big thrill for them to talk to you. Thank you for being so accomodating and open with the students about your book and music and writing and life, and happiness. The class was really excited to be a part of this. -- K.C., 8th grade English teacher, Sacred Heart School
From an 8th grade English teacher in Los Angeles, California
Thank you so much! It was absolutely amazing. The kids were abuzz afterwards about how "cool it was to talk to a real live author." I know a few of our aspiring fiction writers were quite inspired and encouraged by the conversation. It was an exceptional opportunity that will keep our students talking for a while. Thank you for giving them that wonderful experience! —J.M., 8th grade teacher, Westside Neighborhood School
